2004 Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Our 2004 release of Russian River Valley Chardonnay is a rich, intense wine. 2004 was a long warm vintage in the Russian River Valley that produced deeply flavorful fruit. This is a burgundian style chardonnay, barrel fermented with wild yeast and 100% malo-lactic fermentation. The barrels were stirred daily during fermentation and weekly thereafter. Malo-lactic fermentation was long and slow allowing for full integration of flavors.
Tasting notes: Brilliant golden hued, scents of mandarin and mango, creamy lemon, warm spices and toasted nuts, full and round on the palate, elegant balance, with a long intense finish. We have been traveling the state pouring this wine at special events and have discovered that it is a fantastic food wine, especially with cheeses, so far we haven't found a cheese it doesn't pair well with. Some of our favorites are Humboldt Fog, La Tur and Camembert. Our favorite dish we have paired it with is a Butternut Squash Soup, with creme fraiche and truffle oil.
